Yves Rocher - Retropical Collection Summer 2013

The Yves Rocher Retropical collection embodies everything I love about summer beauty - bronze, deep sea blue and aqua shimmer. It's one of the most beautiful make-up collections I have seen for this season, so I had to get some samples to share the products with you!

Above I have shown all three samples I received, but I wanted to focus on the two most interesting ones for this post - the Sunkissed Glow Cheek Stain and Deep Blue Crackle Nail Polish.

Just so you know, the Retropical collection also has a coloured mascara, eye trio, shower gel and shampoo, eau de toilette, eye pencil, illuminating pearls, nail polish and a lipgloss.

SUNKISSED GLOW CHEEK STAIN (£7.50)

The first thing I noticed about this cheek stain was how dark it looked in the bottle - however, when I shook it up it was full of gold shimmer and glitter, making it multidimensional.

One thing that surprised me was the lack of applicator inside the bottle, as it was just open to pour out. I think this is because you are meant to apply it as a stain to the cheeks using a cotton pad.

It's quite a matte formula with a smooth bronze finish and a few speckles of glitter. I think it would work best on those who have darker than fair and olive skin types.

DEEP BLUE CRACKLE NAIL POLISH (£2.95)

Then we have the gorgeous laid-back cool Deep Blue Crackle Nail Polish. I tried this on both of my ring fingers last night, as I had a light blue shade on already and wanted to see if the look would work. I was really impressed with the finish and had to resist the temptation to apply the crackle polish to the rest of my nails! The formula was quite good too.

The only thing I'd ask for is a bigger bottle, but I do love the packaging and shape of the bottle, and I can't really complain given that it costs less than 3 quid!

What do you think of the Retropical Collection? xxx
