What I Really Think About Moroccanoil Oil Treatment

photo

If you ask beauty lovers what their favourite hair oil treatment is, a lot of them will say that Moroccan Oil is 'amazzziiinnnggggg'. But here's the thing: it might be for all hair types, but I definitely don't think it's for me.

Controversial, I know. How dare I go against one of the most popular hair care brands?

Well, we all have products we like, and we all have products we hate. And, although it smells incredible, Moroccanoil is definitely a product I won't be buying again.

Don't hate the tester, hate the game!

Why don't I like it?

It's a heavy duty product
If my hair is freshly washed, the last thing I want to do is give it a greasy appearance by clogging it up with thick oil. Unfortunately, even though I have thick hair, this oil is too heavy duty for my liking.

Only really suitable for wet hair
Because I find the oil too thick for my hair, this completely puts me off using it on dry hair. Ideally, I like hair oils to fully suitable for use on both wet and dry hair.

Need a lot of product for a small section of my hair
I was advised by a hair stylist at the lovely London-based Jones & Payne to only use Moroccanoil treatment on the middle-to-end sections of the hair. Initially, I thought this would be good as I have dry, damaged ends and it would make the product last longer, given that I only had a small bottle. However, I found that using a small amount of this product wasn't enough, and I still needed a lot of oil to cover the small area.

What would I rather use?
I'd much rather use a lightweight hair oil that I can build up if I need to. This would give me much more freedom and I won't need to rewash my hair soon after application!

The three hair oils I am reaching for are Kerastase Elixir Ultime Versatile Beautifying OilMacadamia Healing Oil Treatment (on recommendation from the lovely Kat from Tales Of A Pale Face) and NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil.

What do you think of Morrocanoil Oil Treatment? What's your favourite hair oil? xxx

  1. I love the l'oreal mythic oil, I'm so close to the end of the bottle - I don't want it to end!

    1. Ah I haven't tried that range but I think it could be a kerastase dupe so I'm all for trying it! X

  2. I'm an oil lover, my hair needs it with being colour treated. I always apply any form of oil / serum from the middle downwards and always in wet hair, section it off and apply. Small amounts then if its not to my liking when dry, I add more.

I find that's the best way small dosage for me, I have thick curly hair so my shafts need something that can get deep into my hair. Pure coconut oil is good, it's the only oil that can get deep into the hair shaft.

I've nearly finished my MorrocanOil, I don't reach for it. The L'Oreal Mythic oil is amazing, agree with Princess Saskia, really gives a silky touch when my hair is straight. I do prefer more oils in their natural state if I'm using it in my hair than with additional ingredients especially dimethicone which this contains if I remember correctly xo

    1. Hello you! Thanks so much for your comment - I need all the advice I can get on hair oils as I have been unlucky so far! Would love to use the mythic oil - sounds like it works a dream. I really love the NUXE oil for body and hair - it's such a lovely dry oil and absorbs really well. I would also really like to try a coconut oil too as I have heard that is great for damaged hair. Great comment lovely! Have followed you xxx
